2017-08-02s390: remove asm/mman.h and asm/types.hHeiko Carstens1-11/+0
Both header files only include the corresponding uapi header file and therefore can be removed. Signed-off-by: Heiko Carstens <heiko.carstens@de.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Martin Schwidefsky <schwidefsky@de.ibm.com>
2017-04-25s390/mm: make TASK_SIZE independent from the number of page table levelsMartin Schwidefsky1-4/+0
The TASK_SIZE for a process should be maximum possible size of the address space, 2GB for a 31-bit process and 8PB for a 64-bit process. The number of page table levels required for a given memory layout is a consequence of the mapped memory areas and their location. Signed-off-by: Martin Schwidefsky <schwidefsky@de.ibm.com>
2015-03-25s390: remove 31 bit supportHeiko Carstens1-1/+1
Remove the 31 bit support in order to reduce maintenance cost and effectively remove dead code. Since a couple of years there is no distribution left that comes with a 31 bit kernel. The 31 bit kernel also has been broken since more than a year before anybody noticed. In addition I added a removal warning to the kernel shown at ipl for 5 minutes: a960062e5826 ("s390: add 31 bit warning message") which let everybody know about the plan to remove 31 bit code. We didn't get any response. Given that the last 31 bit only machine was introduced in 1999 let's remove the code. Anybody with 31 bit user space code can still use the compat mode. 2013-02-14s390/mm: Fix crst upgrade of mmap with MAP_FIXEDHendrik Brueckner1-2/+2
Right now the page table upgrade does not happen if the end address of a fixed mapping is greater than TASK_SIZE. Enhance s390_mmap_check() to handle MAP_FIXED mappings correctly. 2012-07-20s390/comments: unify copyright messages and remove file namesHeiko Carstens1-2/+0
Remove the file name from the comment at top of many files. In most cases the file name was wrong anyway, so it's rather pointless. Also unify the IBM copyright statement. We did have a lot of sightly different statements and wanted to change them one after another whenever a file gets touched. However that never happened. Instead people start to take the old/"wrong" statements to use as a template for new files. So unify all of them in one go. Signed-off-by: Heiko Carstens <heiko.carstens@de.ibm.com>

2009-09-22mm: remove duplicate asm/mman.h filesArnd Bergmann1-14/+1
A number of architectures have identical asm/mman.h files so they can all be merged by using the new generic file. The remaining asm/mman.h files are substantially different from each other. 2009-09-22mm: add MAP_HUGETLB for mmaping pseudo-anonymous huge page regionsArnd Bergmann1-0/+2
Add a flag for mmap that will be used to request a huge page region that will look like anonymous memory to user space. This is accomplished by using a file on the internal vfsmount. MAP_HUGETLB is a modifier of MAP_ANONYMOUS and so must be specified with it. The region will behave the same as a MAP_ANONYMOUS region using small pages. The patch also adds the MAP_STACK flag, which was previously defined only on some architectures but not on others. Since MAP_STACK is meant to be a hint only, architectures can define it without assigning a specific meaning to it. 2009-06-11asm-generic: rename termios.h, signal.h and mman.hArnd Bergmann1-1/+1
The existing asm-generic versions are incomplete and included by some architectures. New architectures should be able to use a generic version, so rename the existing files and change all users, which lets us add the new files. 2009-03-18[S390] make page table upgrade work againMartin Schwidefsky1-0/+5
After TASK_SIZE now gives the current size of the address space the upgrade of a 64 bit process from 3 to 4 levels of page table needs to use the arch_mmap_check hook to catch large mmap lengths. The get_unmapped_area* functions need to check for -ENOMEM from the arch_get_unmapped_area*, upgrade the page table and retry. Signed-off-by: Martin Schwidefsky <schwidefsky@de.ibm.com>
